What is the purpose of creating a routine?

If you decide to acquire a new skill and commit to practicing daily, first establish a routine so your body moves automatically, making it a habit.
To put it bluntly, simplify tasks as much as possible so you can do them even on autopilot, and create a workflow that feels natural and can be sustained daily through a series of actions.
I want to maximize efficiency. I want to improve my skills consistently every day without wasting time.
I've always operated with this mindset, but I just realized something now.
I thought that by simplifying and continuing efficiently, my skills would improve, but can skills really improve if I'm doing things on autopilot?
The goal is to improve the quality of my work, yet I've been desperately trying to optimize the process around the work, and merely continuing daily has become the objective.
It's okay to be inefficient; first, I'll just focus on improving the quality of the work. That's the shortest path to skill improvement.
It's such an obvious thing, but I was startled when I realized it.
Instead of getting 80 points every day and continuing, I'll try something different today to get 100 points tomorrow.
I'll approach it that way.
It's more engaging and enjoyable that way.
